Resting Assured
that Gifts are Put to Great Use
Shared by Marie Mercready, MPC Member
“I have always pledged to my church since I became a member through Confirmation Class many (many) years ago.
I believe it is a member’s responsibility to support the church financially as well as with time and talents. The budget for a church is similar to a personal budget. The church must know what funding it has to work with as it makes decisions as to directions and programs for the coming year.
A new commitment that my husband, Jim, and I made this year was to include Memorial Presbyterian Church in our estate plans. We hope the disbursement is many (many) years in the future. But we both feel really good that MPC will be a recipient of part of our finances.
Naming the Church in estate plans can be as broad or narrow as desired. It can go to specific areas such as the Music Program or Christian Education. It can be a generic gift left to the discretion of the Session or Trustees.
But no matter what, a person or couple can rest assured that Memorial will put the gift to great use.”
